Neglected Dog Finds Home, Stricken Boy Finds Love

Neglected Dog Finds Home, Stricken Boy Finds Love Patch Naugatuck, CT --

OXFORD - The dog has long been described as man’s best friend, but in this case it seems more appropriate to call it a little boy’s soul mate.

You see, 10-year-old Marik Tucker was born with bilateral severe hearing impairment. Since day one, he’s struggled with speech, learning and in social settings.

His setbacks became far more severe in August, when the happy-go-lucky kid was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, an aggressive form of cancer that begins in the bones. Since then, Marik has had his left leg amputated from above the knee and has spent three weeks of every month receiving inpatient chemotherapy at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

So his family believes it was fate when Marik was introduced last week to an old German Sheppard who is deaf and has seen his share of heartache, according to Oxford Animal Control officials. Last month, state and local animal control officials seized the dog, which they believe to be at least 8 years old, from a woman accused of severely neglecting the animal and several others on her Oxford property.

The dog is no longer neglected; it is receiving an abundance of attention and care from his new owner, Marik Tucker, who proudly proclaimed to this reporter recently that he “loves him,” that new dog he has named “Zero the Hero,” or just “Zero” for short.

“The dog is a new friend coming along in his life; Marik realizes he isn’t the only one,” said his father, George Tucker, who works on submarine communications systems for the U.S. Navy and was transferred to Groton, Conn., from Louisiana, in June. The Tuckers currently live in Groton and are soon moving to Ledyard.

“Malik’s been around other hearing impaired children during school time, and now he’s seeing it’s not just people, it’s animals, too,” George Tucker said. “He knows how to put a smile on Marik’s face, he’s like, ‘Oh, that’s my dog” and he starts smiling. …When we found him for adoption, it was kind of like it was meant to be.”

Animals are known to have a positive effect on the lives of their owners. "It only takes a few minutes with a dog or cat, or watching fish swim, to feel less anxious and less stressed," according to a recent aritcle called 27 Ways Pets Can Improve Your Health on WebMD. "Your body actually goes through physical changes in that time that make a difference in your mood."

Marik’s mother, Kelli Tucker, knew a dog would help Marik and has been overwhelingly pleased with the results since adopting the dog on April 5.

She said the family fell in love with the "Zero" the minute they met him.

Keilli Tucker knew they had to have him, especially since German Sheppards are Marik's favorite breed of dogs, even though she expected to pay an adoption fee for the animal. Times have been tough financially for the Tucker family – Kelli Tucker had to quit her job as an ophthalmology technician to spend dozens of hours a week at Yale-New Haven and the Tuckers have two other children. But they thought it was important enough to help Marik.

"As soon as I pulled out my checkbook, the people at Oxford Animal Shelter told me to put it away,” she said. “They gave us the dog, they gave us the leash, they gave us a bag of good dog food. All they said was ‘give him a good home.’ They were amazing, and we're so appreciative.

“We knew we wanted to get Marik a dog to motivate him to move when he didn’t really feel like moving and putting his leg on,” she said. “We knew we didn’t want a puppy and when this situation came along, it really was the perfect fit. …It was meant for all of us to find our way together and work through the rest of this.”

Marik, whose name means “warlike,” is courageously battling a crippling disease. “Zero” will be by his side through it all, and the two will forever be each other’s “hero.”

Dance Academy USA has announced that its One Direction Summer Camp has only nine spots left. This camp welcomes all dance levels and is targeted at Ages 7-10 and will run from July 22nd - 25th.

San Jose, CA (PRWEB) April 13, 2013

Dance Academy USA has announced that its One Direction Summer Camp has only nine spots left. This camp welcomes all dance levels and is targeted at Ages 7-10. The One Direction Summer Camp will run from July 22nd - 25th.

Jane Carter, Co-Founder of Dance Academy USA said “We want some of our younger dancers to come and explore the world of Hip Hop and Jazz using some of One Directions' music, along with other current, fun, hip hop music. Campers will learn up to date dance moves fresh from the latest music videos.”

One Direction are an English-Irish pop boy band based in London, consisting of members Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson. They signed with Simon Cowell's record label Syco Records after being formed and finishing third in the seventh series of British television singing competition The X Factor in 2010. Propelled to international success by the power of social media, their two albums Up All Night and Take Me Home, released in 2011 and 2012 respectively, broke several records, topped the charts of most major markets, and generated hit singles, including "What Makes You Beautiful" and "Live While We're Young."

“One Direction may be relatively new on the scene, but they’ve quickly become a favorite for our dancers, particularly the 7 to 10 year olds, who this camp is designed for,” said Kimberly Teordeo, DAU Dance Instructor for the One Direction Summer Camp. “These five really cute British boys have made such a splash over here and they make great music to dance to. Why not pair up our dancers’ love of dance with their favorite music?” she commented.

Referencing: How to Cite Ebooks

Accessibility is the first reason we can think of. We can read those books even when we are not in front of a computer.

Ebooks have come to stay. Each week hundreds of them are published and they can be accessed using computers or mobile devices. According to Amazon.com.uk, ebook sales surpassed printed book figures last year (Malik, 2012). Other sources have reported a steady increase of the former in countries like USA, Canada, Australia, India, Singapore, etc.

What makes ebooks so popular? Accessibility is the first reason we can think of. We can read those books even when we are not in front of a computer. However, the evolution of ebooks has made them very attractive to readers. The first ebooks were just digital copies of the printed versions. Now they include photos, videos, audio recordings, and even widgets that promote interaction between the reader and the book. This means they address the different types of intelligences and learning styles of readers and consequently may be a good tool to promote reading, especially among digital natives.

How do digital immigrants approach ebooks? They feel to some extent like “a fish out of water” and try to find a way of incorporating known behaviours like printing documents to edit instead of doing it online. Prensky (2001) compared them to old immigrants to a new country who cannot get rid of their “immigrant accent”. However, they face the task of reading ebooks with a clear goal -get the needed information- and they usually know how to do that. Enjoy ebook reading as much as a digital native may be something that they still have to achieve and perhaps they will never get rid of their immigrant accent.

Both digital native and immigrant readers face the challenge of referencing ebooks when writing essays and theses and that is what we shall discuss from this point on. These days, there are various Book Proofreading services available, which help polish each & every aspect of your e-book including references. You just need to find a reliable Book Editing services provider.

Let us see how different referencing styles cite an ebook in the reference list. The guidelines presented are general. For more specific guidelines and examples, check ProofreadMyEssay.co.uk blogs.

Meakins' strength can see them to top flight

$

This is Staffordshire --

ELWORTH and Whitmore were the hot tips in 2012 and managed to secure promotion.

Meakins look to be the outstanding team, at least on paper, this summer, with a number of clubs also eyeing a promotion place. CHRIS TRAVERS reports.

Benefited from Newcastle and Hartshill's points deductions to take the second promotion place from Division Two last season.

Skipper Ollie Sadler has virtually the same squad to choose from in the second tier.

The captain's runs and the wickets of Gareth Rowe and Paul Newnes can have a major impact on their season.

Ins: Jason Jinks (Leycett), Stewart Pirie (Crewe), Ateeq Ur Reham (Wedgwood).

Outs: None.

Prospects: Had been knocking on the door of promotion for a couple of years, so seem ready for the step up. A mid-table position is achievable.

Promoted as champions, skipper Dave Proffitt has the same squad at his disposal for the new season.

Overseas star Rizwan Haider returns to Basford Bridge Lane once again, and alongside the evergreen Dave Clowes, can provide the catalyst.

Ins: Callum Bowyer (Leek), Gregory Poole (Moddershall).

Outs: None.

Prospects: Back-to-back promotions is beyond them, but shouldn't have any relegation fears. Finishing sixth or seventh would represent a good season.

Didn't mount the expected promotion push last year and finished in mid-table.

The acquisitions of Simon Dyer and Chris Plant represent a decent winter of activity to off-set the trio of departures.

However, their consistency was a major factor in not ending 2012 higher up the table.

Ins: Simon Dyer (Swardeston), Chris Plant (Moddershall).

Outs: Chris Dyer (Caverswall), Mohammed Ejaz (Wedgwood), Mohammed Haroon Khan (Wedgwood).

Prospects: Looks like a promotion push is possibly out of the equation, but inching up to fourth or fifth could be done.

Were planning for life in Division Two until points deductions saved them from relegation.

They only managed one win last summer and perhaps would have preferred a drop down the divisions to help them rebuild.

The departures of Kimany Gregoire, Yasser Tariq and Darren Snape will hit hard.

Ins: Ben Barker (Rode Park & Lawton), Zak Lally (Silverdale), David Yates (Newcastle & Hartshill).

Outs: Sajakat Ali (Blythe), Shajait Ali (Blythe), Zia Ur Rehman (Cheadle), Kimany Gregoire (Norton), Yasser Tariq (Norton), Darren Snape (Woore).

Prospects: There's little to suggest that Betley can improve. It looks as though the relegation they seemed doomed to in 2012 might just have been delayed by a year.

Blythe have added to their squad and seen no departures during the close season.

The likes of Martin Bailey and Craig Grimley will strengthen skipper Peter Finch's line-up for the upcoming campaign.

Wickets don't seem to be the problem, it's just whether their batsmen can compile enough big scores to give them a fighting chance in matches.

Ins: Sajakat Ali (Betley), Shajait Ali (Betley), Martin Bailey (Moddershall), Craig Grimley (Moddershall), Alex Heslop (Brewood).

Outs: None.

Prospects:A points deduction left them in 10th last year, but Finch and his players will have their sights set on two or three places higher this time around.

Never really recovered from the Garry Park saga, which saw them lose 76 points early last season.

They found their fighting spirit all too late, and have lost key players in their bid to bounce back.

Shaun Jenkinson is the new captain following the exit of Simon Plant, while batsmen Dave Wheeldon and Andrew Shaw have also moved on.

But the capture of highly-rated left-arm spinner Steve Morgan, from Elworth, is a coup.

Ins: Steve Morgan (Elworth), Zia Ur Rehman (Betley).

Outs: Simon Plant (Kidsgrove), David Wheeldon (Longton), Tim Ley (Oakamoor), Andrew Shaw (Oakamoor), Tom Walker (Oakamoor), Chris Whieldon (Oakamoor), Alex Maddox (Stone).

Prospects: Will back themselves to make an instant return to the top flight. If Morgan finds his rhythm early on, they can be genuine contenders for a promotion place.

Some star names have left the club, including Dan Colclough and Greg Massingham, which puts extra responsibility of the likes of skipper Gareth Morris.

The acquisition of former Sussex seamer Naveed Arif Gondal and Stone all-rounder James Ecclestone will help to bring a freshness to the squad.

Ins: James Ecclestone (Stone), Naveed Arif Gondal (Horsham), Joe Smith (Stone).

Outs: Spencer Byatt (Hem Heath), Rory Jackson (Leek), Andrew Lightbown (Moddershall), Daniel Colclough (Oulton), Stephen Colclough (Oulton), Ryan Cyer (Oulton), Greg Massingham (Stafford).

Prospects: Despite the losses, they still boast some match-winners in the team. Won't be too far away from the top places at the end, but may not claim one of the coveted top-two spots.

Finished in a highly-respectable fourth place in their first season back at this level.

And they obviously have big ambitions to reach the Premier Division if their transfer policy is anything to go by.

Staffordshire's Ben McGuire and Richard Hassall, plus former Newcastle and Hartshill skipper Andy Whitehead, pictured below, join an already strong line-up, which includes county players Peter Wilshaw and Dave Edwards.

Ins: Andrew Cartwright (Caverswall), Matt Cope (Moddershall), Mark Lovatt Harris (Moddershall), Richard Hassall (Longton), Aiden McGuire (Hem Heath), Ben McGuire (Hem Heath), David Platt (Meir Heath), Alex Quaintance (Meir Heath), Andy Whitehead (Newcastle & Hartshill).

Outs: Simon Baker (Oulton).

Prospects: With the strength of their side on paper, Meakins should have the title firmly in their sights. It will take a stellar season from one of their rivals to prevent them from being crowned champions this time around.

Have not quite lived up to their billing as challengers in the past couple of seasons and ended last year in sixth place.

Jake Heath takes the reins from Richard Stonier, and the squad has a similar look about it.

A lot will depend on the wickets of Iftikhar Asghar in Heath's first season as skipper.

Ins: Joe Askey (Stafford), Jan Osgathorpe (Stone), Sam Wilcox (Hem Heath).

Outs: Harvey Lowe (Checkley), Matthew Warren (Hem Heath), Tom Edwards (Knypersley), David Platt (Meakins), Alex Quaintance (Meakins).

Prospects: Sixth last year, and it is difficult to predict anything other than the same finishing spot for Meir Heath this time around.

Another side with a new captain as Andy Hawkins replaces Khalid Malik.

The club will be confident of improving their seventh-placed finish of last year, despite several exits, after signing overseas player Kashif Bhatti.

The 26-year-old Pakistani is a right-hand batsman and left-arm spinner, who arrives with a decent reputation.

Ins: Tom Ball (Leek), Andrew Lightbown (Little Stoke), Liam Roberts (Wedgwood), Kashif Bhatti (Pakistan).

Outs: Gregory Poole (Ashcombe Park), Chris Plant (Barlaston), Martin Bailey (Blythe), Craig Grimley (Blythe), George Johnson (Kidsgrove), Rory Corden (Leek), Matt Cope (Meakins), Mark Lovatt Harris (Meakins), Nasir Malik (Newcastle & Hartshill).

Prospects: Knocking on the door of the top four if they can find their form, but a top-two place might just be beyond them.

Took their time to get going last season, and fell just short of clinching one of the promotion places.

They have virtually the same personnel as last year, and with Andy Barnett leading the attack, along with star all-rounder Sohail Rauf, they have the ability to return to the top division.

Ins: Luke Jones (Wood Lane), David Shirley (Leycett).

Outs: Simon McIntyre (Kidsgrove), Matthew Hulse (Knypersley).

Prospects:A quick start and this could be Sandyford's year for a top-two place.

Will have been highly satisfied with their fifth place after winning promotion last season.

Former England Under-19 player Mitchell Stokes has taken over from Scott Degg, and must make do without Richard Brazier, who has moved to Stafford.

Ins: Mark James (Leek), Gareth Lello (Wedgwood).

Outs: Zak Lally (Betley), Ethan Brown (Kidsgrove), Richard Brazier (Stafford).

Prospects: Emulating last year's fifth place would be the first target for the Underwood Road club. Anything else is a bonus. Reported by This is 1 day ago.

One Direction at centre of Minister's embarrassing gaffe

One Direction at centre of Minister's embarrassing gaffe This is Derbyshire --

A GOVERNMENT minister was forced to issue an embarrassing clarification after appearing to criticise boy band One Direction for earning too much money.

Unveiling a 12p rise in the minimum wage, Business Secretary Vince Cable was asked if he agreed it was "mad" that the pop group had made £5 million each over the past year.

Mr Cable replied that "much of it is downright insensitive and grossly immoral".

He was commenting on the five-some, made up of Derby County fan Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne, who made a total of £25 million last year, according to the Sunday Times Rich List.

However, aides stressed that the Liberal Democrat had "misheard" the question at the central London event, and was referring to the pay of chief executives.

In an interview with Sky News he said: "I don't want to attack One Direction; this is one particular group who are apparently very popular and very successful so I have nothing against them. Reported by This is 13 hours ago.

One Direction's earnings mad, says business leader in City pay debate

Institute of Directors boss digresses in discussion of executive pay, as business secretary outlines minimum wage rises

Their debut album reached number one in 16 countries, and on their way to chart success the five members of One Direction have provided ample material for gossip columnists. But on Monday Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne attracted attention not for their hairstyles, fashion sense or love lives but because the £5m they each earned last year was described as "mad" in a debate on high pay in the City.

The business secretary, Vince Cable, was dragged into discussing the wealth of the boy band – a creation of the X Factor franchise – after he appeared to agree with remarks by the head of the Institute of Directors, Simon Walker, who is a high-profile critic of City pay.

During a debate at which Cable had been highlighting the situation of the low paid on the national minimum wage, Walker attacked the "greedy sins of those who demand and secure rewards for failure", and digressed to the pay of pop stars and footballers to put top bosses' salaries into perspective.

"I think it's mad that members of boy band One Direction made £5m each last year," Walker said. He made clear that he did not think that the government should intervene or that their pay was any of his business, and said shareholders should clamp down on executive pay.

Cable, sitting alongside him, later clarified remarks he had made supporting Walker's general thesis on executive pay, telling Sky News: "I don't want to attack One Direction, this is one particular group who are apparently very popular and very successful so I have nothing against them.

"But there is a general issue of chief execs in particular who are paid well beyond what can be justified in terms of the performance of their companies, and that's something the government is now trying to address."

The wealth of the five pop stars – the oldest of whom is Tomlinson at 21 – was calculated this weekend for the Sunday Times young music rich list, on which they featured for the first time. Breaking into the US, where two albums made it to number one, helped generate the band's wealth.

Walker, who last month attacked £1m payouts to 523 bankers at Royal Bank of Scotland and Barclays, said: "When the ordinary, hard-working people who are the workforce, customer base and often shareholders in our companies see value destroyed in scandals like Libor fixing, or the collapse of HBOS, they are shocked. When those who oversaw such disasters get multimillion-pound payoffs rather than public censure, they are horrified and angry, And rightly so."

Cable has begun investigating whether the three individuals criticised for running HBOS into the ground – Lord Stevenson, Sir James Crosby, who is handing back his knighthood, and Andy Hornby – can be struck off as company directors. "I've got an open mind of whether the system of sanctions is strong enough," Cable told the Guardian.

He is against a cap on bonuses but at a time when the top rate of tax has been cut to 45% from 50% he admitted he would "be more radical in taxing wealth".

The business secretary outlined rises in the minimum wage of 1% for those below 21 and by nearly 2%, or 12p an hour, for adults to £6.31. The Resolution Foundation calculated that this constituted a real-terms fall for a fourth year in succession, taking the minimum wage back to the same level as in 2004.

Cable acted in line with recommendations by the low pay commission, except with regards to apprenticeships where he raised the hourly rate by 3p to £2.68 despite the independent body's call for the rate to be frozen. The rate for 18- to 20-year-olds will rise by 5p to £5.03, and for 16- and 17-year-olds by 4p to £3.72.

Cable said there would be a crackdown on abuses of the minimum wage, pointing to the cash economy of unrecorded wages, restaurateurs making assumptions about tips and other employers making deductions for uniforms.

He faced criticism from the public sector Unison for not using a "living wage" as the baseline for pay. "It is a disgrace that 28,000 hard-working local government staff now earn less than the rate which the government accepts is the minimum any worker in the UK should be paid," said Dave Prentis, general secretary of Unison, pointing to council workers who earn £6.30, 1p below the new adult minimum.

Cable called for a debate about the living wage campaigns – in London the rate is set at £8.55 – which he said needed to be "grounded in evidence rather than based on rhetoric and political point-scoring".

With debate about high and low pay continuing, investors are under pressure to embark on another "shareholder spring" of revolts. Robert Talbut, chief investment officer at Royal London Asset Management, told the conference that remuneration was the responsibility of boards, and called for less complex bonus schemes and less emphasis on "lottery payouts". Transfer trail holds the key to silverware glory

This is Staffordshire --

THE battle for honours in Division Three looks to be as close as ever this season.

But several clubs have made significant transfer moves to help give them the edge. CHRIS TRAVERS reports.

Started well, but faded badly in their first season in Division Three following their promotion from the Stone League.

No ins or outs over the winter means skipper Chris Le Maistre and his players must look to improve on their second-from-bottom finish in 2012.

Ins: None.

Outs: None.

Prospects: The lack of new recruits could mean a tough summer in prospect for Church Eaton. Avoiding the trapdoor would constitute success.

Were in with a shout of promotion until the final few weeks of the campaign but, overall, they will have been happy with fifth.

Under skipper Fionn Webb, the club stopped their decline, which had seen them tumble down from Division One.

Three new recruits looks to have strengthened their squad ahead of the new season.

Ins: Abrar Ahmad (Bolton), Mian H Usman Kabakhmil (Colton), Liaq Ur Rehman (Colton).

Outs: Stewart Pirie (Alsager).

Prospects: If they can shrug off the disappointment of their late stumble last season, Crewe can be in the running for a top-four place at the very least.

Eccleshall have headed Down Under to sign Australian off-spinning all-rounder Nathan Hinton. The 20-year-old plays first grade cricket in Sydney for Blacktown District.

Former professional footballer Dave Hibbert, who announced his retirement last week, is set to feature for the club.

Myles Coughlan takes over as captaincy from Jack Boulton as they look to bounce back.

Ins: Nick Cooper (Stone), James Cox (Oulton), James Dale (Stone), Simon Howland (Stone), Jamie Wood (Stafford), Nathan Hinton (Blacktown District).

Outs: None.

Prospects: Some shrewd signings mean Eccleshall can be up at the top end. Would be a surprise if they are not in the mix for promotion.

Fenton have pulled off a couple of major signings with Hem Heath duo Steve Atkinson and Brian Sims dropping down from the top flight.

Their respective wickets and runs can help to fill the void created by the departure of all-rounder Chris Mellor.

Skipper Andy Brown has also moved on, with John Seabridge taking on the captaincy.

Ins: Stephen Atkinson (Hem Heath), Shahid Mahmood (Hanford), Brian Sims (Hem Heath), Troy Taylor (Hanford).

Outs: Chris Mellor (Hanford), Thomas Mellor (Hanford), Andrew Brown (Hem Heath), Shafique Hussain (Stone), Fred Brown (Wedgwood).

Prospects: Just survived last season, but with the talent at their disposal, they should be looking at upper mid-table.

A sixth-placed finish gives them a platform to build on.

There has been plenty of movement both ways at the club over the winter, although the capture of Chris Mellor adds quality to their side.

Ins: Zafar Iqbal (Burslem), Chandra Kanneganti (Wedgwood), Chris Mellor (Fenton), Tom Mellor (Fenton).

Outs: Shahid Mahmood (Fenton), Troy Taylor (Fenton), Peter Crutchley (Hem Heath), Michael Coxon (Leek), Gareth McAloon (Newcastle & H), Declan Coxon (Porthill), Nicholas Buxton (Wedgwood), Mitchell Edwards (Wedgwood).

Prospects: A similar sort of finish is in prospect for the Church Lane club this time around.

As ever, their strength will depend on the other sides in the club. But there have been plenty of new faces arriving during the winter, which should give cause for optimism.

Andy Palmer drops down from captaining the first team to take charge of the side.

Ins: Bilawal Bhatti (Alfreton), Andrew Brown (Fenton), Spencer Byatt (Little Stoke), Peter Crutchley (Hanford), Tom East (Caverswall), Jake Edge (Caverswall), Matthew Hagan (Wood Lane), Atique Hashmi (Woore), Muhammad Jahangir (Bollington), Lee Ridgway (Caverswall), Craig Walley (Knypersley), Matthew Warren (Meir Heath).

Outs: Kurtis Lally (Checkley), Steve Atkinson (Fenton), Brian Sims (Fenton), Aiden McGuire (Meakins), Ben McGuire (Meakins).

Prospects: If they can turn out consistent sides, an improvement on last year's seventh-placed finish is a distinct possibility.

After years of trying, Leek Moorlands finally won promotion from the Stone League in 2012.

Their fortunes will also depend on the availability of players in the first team.

But skipper Richard Ogden, pictured left, looks to have some decent options at his disposal.

Experienced seamer Chris Price has made the move from Oakamoor and will lead the attack on Leek's Division Three debut.

Ins: Rory Corden (Moddershall), Michael Coxon (Hanford), Dan Hall (Keele Park), Geoff Hall (Keele Park), Rory Jackson (Little Stoke), Nadeem Malik (Leicester), Chris Price (Oakamoor).

Outs: Callum Bowyer (Ashcombe Park), Tom Ball (Moddershall), Liam Duggan (Oakamoor), Mark James (Silverdale).

Prospects: Should have plenty of ability to avoid any relegation dramas. A mid-table finish would suit Ogden and his players.

It's the same again for Norton in Hales, who didn't fulfil their potential in finishing third-from-bottom last year.

Craig Ruscoe continues to lead the team, who will no doubt benefit from their experiences in the bottom tier in 2012.

Ins: None.

Outs: None.

Prospects: Providing they can shrug off the disappointment of last summer, Norton in Hales can improve three or four places in the table. But a slow start could leave them sweating.

Were expected to be involved in the promotion push last year, but could only manage to finish in fourth.

Influential all-rounder Muhammed Ayub isn't returning, which is a big blow to the club.

A flurry of new faces have been recruited, but whether they can make the necessary impact to push on to the next level remains to be seen.

Ins: Liam Duggan (Leek), Tim Ley (Cheadle), Andrew Shaw (Cheadle), Philip Tomczak (Drax), Tom Walker (Cheadle), Chris Whieldon (Cheadle).

Outs: Chris Price (Leek).

Prospects: It is going to be tough without the talismanic Ayub, so emulating their 2012 finish would be a fine achievement.

Eighth last time around, but constant chopping and changing hampered their attempts to make inroads into the top half.

Neil Podmore has handed over the captaincy to Jason Revill, who appears to have more depth in the squad following the winter activity.

However, some talented players have also headed for the hills, leaving Stone with little time to gel a side together.

Ins: Simon Davies (Norton), Nicholas Hickey (Stafford), Shafique Hussain (Fenton), George Hyde-Farrington (Stafford), Wasim Khan (Barlaston), Ashley Lunn (Stafford), Alex Maddox (Cheadle), Dries Nell (Oulton), William Weston (Endon).

Outs: Nick Cooper (Eccleshall), James Dale (Eccleshall), Simon Howland (Eccleshall), James Ecclestone (Little Stoke), Joe Smith (Little Stoke), Jan Osgathorpe (Meir Heath), Graham Beardmore (Stafford).

Prospects: An improvement on last season's effort, but the runs of skipper Revill will be crucial to setting the standard for his side.

There seems to have been a revolving door at Wedgwood in the close season looking at the number of transfers.

But, on balance, they look to have as strong a squad as they did in finishing third last season.

The experienced Adrian Lello leads a team which boasts both youth and experience.

Ins: Fred Brown (Fenton), Nicholas Buxton (Hanford), Mitchell Edwards (Hanford), Mohammed Ejaz (Barlaston), Rizwan Fazal (Woore), Mohammed Haroon Khan (Barlaston), Asif Shahid (Sport Asia).

Outs: Ateeq Ur Rehman (Alsager), Aquash Taj (Bignall End), Chandra Kanneganti (Hanford), Chris Gask (Longton), Liam Reeves (Longton), Liam Roberts (Moddershall), Gareth Lello (Silverdale).

Prospects: Tailed off in the closing stages last season when promotion seemed on the cards. Will be in the hunt to better that.

Some impressive signings as they attempt to bounce back to Division Two.

Tas Hussain, Navid Ul Khurram Kaleem and Darren Snape are proven performers at a higher level and should produce the goods in the basement division.

A whole host of players have left, but skipper Andy Kenvyn still has a useful-looking side.

Ins: Tas Hussain (Leycett), Navid Ul Khurram Kaleem (Leycett), Ben Lucas (Kidsgrove), Darren Snape (Betley).

Outs: Simon Beard (Bignall End), Anand Buddhdev (Bignall End), Majid Hussain (Bignall End), Sajid Hussain (Bignall End), David Quinton (Bignall End), Mohammed Razaq (Bignall End), Mohammed Saleem (Bignall End), Khalid Yosofzai (Bignall End), Atique Hashmi (Hem Heath), Darren Johnson (Onneley & Maer), Wayne Downing (Oulton), Rizwan Fazal (Wedgwood), George Gay (Weston).

Prospects: Will be aiming for a top-two place, and that should be within their grasp. Reported by This is 2 days ago.

Police Release Names of Rutgers Students Arrested Saturday Patch East Brunswick, NJ --

A block party that turned unruly on Saturday resulted in the arrest of three Rutgers students and 16 disorderly conduct summonses and violations being issued to party goers.

On Saturday afternoon, a block party on Delafield Street between Bristol and Courtlandt streets had hundreds of people in attendance, mostly Rutgers students, attracting police who arrived on scene to break it up.

According to a press release from the New Brunswick Police Department, more than 500 students were estimated to have gathered, and the students "refused" to disperse.

The gathering took a turn when students lit a couch on fire and threw "bottles and other objects" at police, who responded with riot shields and pepper spray. The spray was used on the crowds to disperse them, but no students were injured, according to police.

Officers from Rutgers University, UMDNJ, North Brunswick and Franklin Township assisted the New Brunswick officers, according to the release.

Haroon Malik, 21, of Princeton, was arrested and charged with Obstruction, Riot, Obstructing a Roadway, and Disorderly Conduct.

Jordan Zuck, 21, of Linwood, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault on Police, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, Disorderly Conduct, and Riot.

No further information on the weapon was available at press time.

Michael Simone, 20, of Whitehouse Station, was arrested and charged with Obstruction, Failure to Disperse, Obstructing a Roadway, Disorderly Conduct, and Underage Consumption of Alcohol.

One additional arrest was made "as a result of the disturbance," according to the release. Reported by Patch 2 days ago.
